On June 13, 2024, we held the Inochi Forum Action Platform on Diversity and Inclusion, titled “Experiencing Fairness and Inequality through the ‘Quiz & Gamble’ Game!”

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Inochi Forum Action Platform on Diversity and Inclusion, titled “Experiencing Fairness and Inequality through ‘Quiz & Gamble’ Game,” was held at the Inochi Plaza on the 5th floor of the Osaka University Nakanoshima Center. The event saw a gathering of 40 participants, including speakers who contributed to the discussion.

This event was part of a collaborative project with the Haruno Yoshida Memorial Executive Committee, among others. Noriko Takemoto, the representative of Narrative Energy and the facilitator of the event, explained the workshop certified by the Diversity OTD Promotion Association for Organizational Reform. This workshop was jointly developed with the University of Tokyo Center for Barrier-Free Education Development and has been implemented in large corporations.

Participants, divided into seven groups with six members each, engaged in a game that simulated challenges faced by minorities in a fictional society. The game highlighted real-world social inequalities such as legal discrimination against sexual minorities and employment support disparities based on gender bias. The groups enjoyed the game while actively engaging in discussions both within and outside their groups.

Ms. Takemoto emphasized the systemic nature of inequality and the need for societal solutions rather than individual ones, introducing the concepts of the individual model and the social model. Through her presentation and the game experience, participants understood the importance of recognizing their biases and the disparities in society.

Finally, Ms. Takemoto provided a recap of the workshop and introduced upcoming events. She stressed the importance of aiming for a more equitable society through awareness, dialogue, and systematic transformation, concluding the event on a high note.
