This event, the first public event hosted by the Ritsumeikan SDGs Promotion Headquarters, focused on the increasingly important topic of “biodiversity.” In particular, it highlighted biodiversity conservation activities in Shiga Prefecture, Lake Biwa, and the surrounding region, where the Ritsumeikan University Biwako-Kusatsu Campus is located. The event featured case studies and panel discussions by various stakeholders, including government officials, researchers, students, and businesses. They discussed the current situation, challenges, and future prospects of biodiversity conservation.
